Deco Dilemma

12:50 AM

Sparkle, sparkle.
Blah, my brain is hardly functioning.

This weekend is the Sendai Aoba Matsuri, famed for it's traditional Sparrow Dance.

Hundreds of teams of performers parade through the streets over and over again, dancing as they go.

Teams usually represent businesses, university clubs or are put together by dance enthusiasts.

My team was the of the latter sort.

The festival ran on til 8pm and I spent the whole day on the streets alternating between drumming and dancing.

I'm so tired now but taking part in a Japanese festival is an amazing experience that everyone should try!

I did some spying for deco materials.

Of course, one is not supposed to take photos in shops, but....who cares?

This is a selection of products sold for cell phone decoration.

It's a little disappointing because the colours are limited and the prices were a little high.

My main problem is that I can't decide on a pattern.

Currently, I think the nail art section of Don Quixote is the best value for money, but I still can't choose what to do.

There must be great personal satisfaction in doing it yourself.

I'd love to hear from people who have done decora before.

All advice is welcome because I really don't know where to begin.

As you can see from the photos, the shops have a dazzling effect that makes me want to buy everything!

  2. I'm sure decoing is super fun, I just can't find nice materials at a fair price here, and I'd have to do a group order if I wanted to buy them online since shipping is expensive too.
But I what I always do is look at deco magazines! They come with lots of great ideas!

I've never done deco, but I'd like to in the future. I agree, it's a bit daunting!

  4. Winnie - to be honest, if I wanted a new phone, deco wouldn't be enough for me! Maybe you could get a new phone and then deco your old phone!

  5. Sasa - It's too bad that you can't get materials. Have you looked in bead shops? I think small beads would work. Looking at magazines is a good idea, I just don't want to spend money on them, haha!

  7. The festival sounds really fun. And wow, so many blingy choices! I can see why it'd be tough to decide where to begin. :) Everything is so cute though that I'm sure whatever you decide on will look great!

  9. I need to do this to my phone too...We don't have patches of deco like that here so I have to apply stone by stone. Just remember to use a glue that is nice to the phone! ♥♥

  10. Emmelie ♥ - I think stone by stone is better! If you work harder at something then you can have more pride in it. I want to do stone by stone too.
