Minnie Me

If you're not wearing Disney, you're not living in Japan.

Unless you've been living under a rock this season, you will have noticed that character goods are everywhere this season.

Well, items by Disney, Sanrio, etc are always popular in Japan but there are more high-profile collaborations than ever this year.

I've done my bit with my Rock Star Mickey T-shirt and I'm still toying with some of the Uniqlo designs (that link plays music by the way, not good if you're in the library!)

I think the men's t-shirts are much nicer than the women's though, so it looks like another case of cross-dressing for Miruku!

Have you jumped on the character trend?

It didn't take much to persuade me, I love Disney things.

The picture above shows a set of 3 cell phone charms that I bought with my girlfriends when we first came to Sendai.

Living near a Disney Store is dangerous to my wallet (what else is new...) but these were reasonable at 1500 yen for the set.

Besides their super-cuteness, they helped form a bond between three strangers who grew to be best friends.

Can you guess which one is mine?

I'm planning on deco-ing my phone soon, if it works out reasonably well I'll post the results. Any tips anyone?

Also, I got a lovely Dolly Wink haul today. Stand by for reviews next week!

  5. I haven't gotten into the character shirts trend yet, which is odd since I love character items haha. I just always think "How long will I be able to wear this?"

I'm looking forward to your future deco and review posts!

  7. Shop N' Chomp - the pink one....is not mine! The white one is! My phone is the same pink/purple as the bow, so it matches well. I still can't decide what to do on my phone, it feels like a huge commitment!

  8. Hannah Sophie - Disney Stores are wonderful! They carry quite stylish ranges too, so it's not all super-cute kiddy stuff. Perfect for any occasion!

  9. lucieliu - wow, you're a pro at this! Well, I for one think it's a great trend. Maybe it's a bit harder to work it when you don't live in Japan though. That's why I love Japanese fashion, anything goes!

  11. さらまり - You should take the plunge! I know what you mean though, once a trend ends it ends. Some of the character stuff I've seen wont look so good in a few months. Plus when you're not in Japan it looks a little strange to wear it!

  12. Yumeko - Well, I think I am a bright accessories girl, but actually I have the white charm! I thought it was more elegant and suited to my phone. That's interesting that you are not a big t-shirt fan. Sometimes I wish that I was less lazy but t-shirt is such an easy choice to wear!
