The Bridge of Romantic Doom!
Welcome to the last part in the Tohokool - Matsushima series!
The bridge in the picture above reputedly leads to the break-up of any couple who crosses it.
I was too afraid to test the myth but we both wanted to see the island.
So, I went across first and called Mr. Miruku's phone as soon as I reached the other side. Then he came over.
Maybe it was stupid, but I didn't want to take the risk!
This was the biggest of the "little islands" go I guess local people come here for fishing.
I was wondering, if there was a zombie invasion, would you rather be on a big island that has many places to hide? Or a small island that's easier to defend?
Huuuuuge insect, back in the village.
I honestly don't think I could survive in the Japanese countryside *shudder*
View of Matsushima town from the train station.
So, that's Matsushima - one of the three most beautiful sights in Japan.
If you're in Japan this Summer and would like to visit, you should come on August 17th.
That's when the famous fireworks festival will take place this year.
I'll definitely be going this year, so I'll be sure to post some pictures!

ReplyDeleteI would choose the big island. I'm too weak to beat all the zombies xD
ReplyDeletezomg that insect looks so scary!but nice photos ^^
ReplyDeleteThat insect is HUGE. I would definitely not go to that island in case of a zombie invasion.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful place. Yes, lol, lots of various little beasties in nature in Japan. lol, had to laugh at the zombie comment from out of the blue. I like people who are creative like that. :-)
ReplyDeletewant to walk on there. <3
ReplyDeleteLovely fotos, now I really wanna go to Matsushima!
ReplyDeleteAhh, 17 August, that was the date of me leaving for Japan in 2009. That brings back memories!
I "lived" on the countryside of Shikoku for 3 weeks, and you can't imagine what monsters were creeping around there, even in the house! I only say cockroaches and spiders as tall as your open hand... I was afraid I almost died. Luckily my host father caught them :-)
Wow, that big bug you saw there..looks like the ones we have in Malaysia too! *In my house! >.<" Hopefully I get to take a photo of it as proof. And, about the Bridge of Romantic Doom, it's always better to be safe than sorry. ;)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty =3
ReplyDeleteI agree with the people above, that bug is quite creepy haha XD
Alisha Glasco - yep, I can't decide whether I love or hate the place! XD
ReplyDeleteBianca - I always worry about zombie invasions, and you should too if you know what's good for you!
ReplyDeletediyanahomie - Hey, this is a serious matter, not a joke!
ReplyDeletepetitechouxx - But I think on a small island there wouldn't be many zombies!
ReplyDeleteNaka - Thanks, but I was afraid the big would attack my camera!
ReplyDeleteTherese Jane - I think the insect is worse than the zombies!
ReplyDeleteSakie and Thomas Gantz - If you think that the zombie comment was "out of the blue", that means you're not prepared! Oh no!
ReplyDeleteSanna - It is a lovely place to visit!
ReplyDeleteThanh Thao タンタオ - Oh no, that sounds so scary! Luckily in Tohoku the weather is coller than most of Japan. That way, we don't get too many big insects.
ReplyDeleteErika Toh - I don't think I want to see that photo, haha!
ReplyDeleteSquare Kitties - I still have nightmares now, haha!
ReplyDeleteHaha! You are my new favorite, just for devising that plan to get across~ GENIUS! :D ♥ ♥
ReplyDeleteOkay, and what is it with Japan and the land of weird, creepy bugs?! They're everywhere! >.<
I still love all your pictures though! Breath-taking! ^^
華 ♡°・.。 - Wasn't it the best plan ever, haha! I gotta say, the biggest culture shock of living in Japan is the bugs - it's not natural!
ReplyDeleteHahaha I know!!! living in the Japanese countryside is nearly ipossible!!! I spent my whole 3 months there with bug spray in one hand :D
ReplyDeleteAnd the spiders are HUGE (the biggest one we have here is 1,5cm diameter)
