Fashion Monster: Purikura and Macarons

Fans of  Japan and Japanese fashion will be no strangers to "purikura" (print club). For the uninitiated, purikura is a way of taking photo-booth style pictures with endlessly customizable backgrounds, stamps and photoshopping features. No day out is complete without a cute photographic memory. They're also one of my favourite ways to take outfit snaps because the pictures gloss over so many flaws!

My bad hair day.

I took a lot of pictures throughout October. When I first came to Japan four years ago, I got so carried away each time I did purikura. I loaded the image with glitter, stamps and crazy text. Now I prefer a simpler style to showcase my style of the day.

Fashion Monster.

You usually get between six or eight photos taken and before each one the video guide recommends a pose. Sometimes they don't quite work (I don't think the hand-clasping on the "bad hair day" picture suits me). However, sometimes it's perfect! I love this "fashion monster" shot with my mother. It's a little bit silly, a lot of fun and each time I see it I remember how we burst in to a fit of giggles afterwards.

A couple of macarons I had recently, rasberry and vanilla.

For no reason at all here are some macarons. I pass a bakery everyday on my way home from work and treat myself to some macarons about once every two months. This week is going to be a week of hell for me since I'm taking the JLPT on Sunday. I'm only attempting N3 but I really let myself down with lack of study/laziness. There's not much I can do at this point except give it a go. If I don't make it this time then hopefully I'll figure out which areas I need to work on for next year!
