BB Cream For All!

12:50 AM

Equal opportunity beauty!

I love a good bandwagon so I really wanted to try BB cream.

People say that it makes your skin healthy, protects from the sun's rays and acts as a foundation, among other things.

That's all very well, but really - I just wanted it because everyone else was trying it.

The problem was, I have very pale Caucasian skin.

I spent ages in make-up shops going through tube after tube trying to match my skin colour.

BB cream hasn't really taken off outside of Asia, so the colours are best suited to Asian skin tones.

I probably nit-picked the colour more than I needed to, but I didn't want to have my face a different shade than my neck.

Although the differences were minute, they were enough to bother me.

Then, this came along:

Palgantong Hello Kitty Morning Set

This baby was just under 2000 yen, came in a handy travel bag and has a pretty Hello Kitty collab!

Here's what you get:

Vita White BB Cream

Theatrical Hello Kitty

It's not the biggest tube ever, but that works in favour of those trying it for the first time.

So far I've used it for about 5 full faces and there's quite a bit left, feels like it's getting empty though.

It goes on very easily, solid enough so that it doesn't spill, liquid enough so that it spreads like a dream.

Most importantly, the colour is great!

I applied some to my hand, in natural light. It's hard to see even at this stage!

I think the flash on my camera made this look a little...pink? Take my word for it, it blends in perfectly. I need to learn how to take a better picture!

After you apply the BB cream, this is supposed to be stage two.

Theatrical Powder - Peal Beige.

If have have ever done/seen stage performance, you'll know that the combination of sweat and stage lights can lead to a face shinier than a new penny.

The concept of Palgantong's Theatrical Powder is that it is extra-tough to deal with this.

I have a tendency to get shiny, so this was as interesting to me as the BB cream.

It comes with a little puff to apply it.

I've used MAC and Dior powders to de-shine my face, but this is definitely better.

To be fair, if I had used those other brands along with BB cream it might have made a difference.

However, this is a set and it's a bloody good one.

I went through a full day with no shine - heaven!

If you dab it on just like this it gives a cute freckled effect!

As lightly coloured as the BB cream.

Blends in perfectly!

This is the third part of the set:

Extra puff.

This is supposed to blend the cream and the powder together, but I don't find it necessary.

Nice to have a spare though!

All in all, I think this is a great product, especially if you have light skin.

Even so, my Singaporean friend also used it and had no problems with the colour - maybe it's one-colour-fits-all?

She felt it dried her skin out though, while I had no problems with it.

At the end of the day, every-one's skin is unique and we can't predict how we will react to something.

I recommend this though, the BB cream doesn't feel too thick.

While I wouldn't wear it everyday, it's great for weekends and going out at night.

The powder is much more versatile and I always carry it around now to top up my usual MAC foundation.

Finally, isn't the dramatic Hello Kitty so cute?

How can you resist?!?!

  5. Wow THANK YOU!

I've been looking for a BB cream that would fit my skin... since I'm super pale, it was getting hard to find one (whenever I buy foundation, I'm ALWAYS the lightest shade haha)

  7. Alanna - I think this is the kind of stuff that has to be tried before it's bought. This is probably good for pinkish skin tones though because it would blend in well.

  8. Shop N' Chomp - The packaging really is lovely, isn't it? I think my decision to purchase was 80% product, 20% packaging, haha!

  9. Thanh Thao - Shiny skin is so annoying, isn't it? I also have blotting paper but I haven't tried that yet.

  11. Shmuberry - Sounds like we might have similar colouring! I can't promise that this will work for you and if you have to buy it online it's a shame. However, this set is small and cheap, so it might be worth a try. Good luck!

  12. cin-cin - If you're Asian then you're lucky! You'll probably have no problem finding a shade for you. So you want to move to Sendai? Welcome! It's a great city, I love it! I don't want to post too much personal info here, but if you give me your e-mail address, I'll get in touch and try and help you :)
