Hand In Hand

12:50 AM

We've covered face care - now on to the hands.

It wasn't until my friend "kindly" pointed out to me that the skin on my hands was cracked that I considered using hand cream.

What with kendo, washing dishes and basically life in general, I always wanted a tough pair of hands.

Eventually though, vanity got the better of me.

L'Occitane hand cream for dry skin.

You can't go wrong with this brand, I love L'Occitane!

Since I'm living in Japan, I often feel like I should be trying Asian products.

Sometimes I feel nostalgic for home though and this brings me right back to summers in France.

I love the simple packaging, kind of elegant.

L'Occitane's shea butter range is their most famous product.

It comes out in a nice big line, this makes me happy for some reason!

I can't say enough good things about this.

Although prices will vary depending on where you live, I bought it in Ireland, France and Japan - all at a reasonable cost.

There's loads in the tube. Even if you use it daily it'll still be good for months.

A little goes a long way with this cream and although there is a subtle scent of shea butter, it's not overpowering.

If I put it on in the morning, my hands feel smooth and moisturized for the whole day.

Best of all, it sinks in completely and doesn't leave your hands feeling messy.

L'Occitane is pure love!

I decided I wanted to keep some in my desk at work, so initially I put some into an empty tube from Muji.

When that small tube ran out, I thought it would be fun to try something new.

So I got...

Lollia Relax Shea Butter, Lavender and Honey hand cream.

A new cosmetics shop opened in the AER department store recently.

They are really pushing the Lollia brand, which is always out front on display.

I had never heard of it before, but their designs are just gorgeous - check out the website here .

It was the box that caught my eye, possibly the prettiest packaging I have ever seen.

A little hard to read, but still pretty!

The hand cream comes in a range of scents, including Believe, Wish, Inspire and Relax.

They all smelled good, but Relax was so sweet that it just called to me.

Anyway, I could do with some more relaxation these days.

The tube is plainer, but still lovely near the top.

Not only is the tube smaller than L'Occitane, it comes out in smaller quantities too.

Although the size of Lollia is very convenient, the product isn't nearly as good as L'Occitane.

The scent is very strong. I don't mind that, sometimes - others might hate it.

The worst part of the cream is that it doesn't rub in very well.

It leaves a light coating on my hands for the whole day.

It doesn't bother me enough to stop me from using it, but I don't think I'd buy it again.

Lollia's collections are so pretty though - has anyone else tried them?

P.S. I changed my picture to the real me! It's purikura so it hides most of the bad stuff, haha!

  3. I wanted to get that L'Occitane hand cream, but I was/am too lazy/poor to go out an get it. Thank you for writing up the great review, it makes me want to get out and buy it^^

I read that hand creams with silicones in them are good for dry hands because it creates a barrier that keeps water out.

Luckily in Japan I usually don't need a hand cream, but once I step back into dry ol' Minnesota...haha!
